Microsoft официално потвърдиха, че ReFS(Resilient File System) ще е новата файлова система в Windows Server 8. ReFS няма да е наличен за клиентската операционна система Windows 8. Това е и стандартната процедура на Microsoft при въвеждане на нови файлови системи. Също така, няма да е възможно самата операционна система да се инсталира върху диск форматиран с ReFS.
